Independence Day




Happy Independence Day!!!! We certainly missed the USA today! No fireworks, no parades, no celebrations. We were going to take a nice family photo in our 4th of July attire but Ruby's outfit was WAY too big!

Today was a free day. We spent most of the day taking adventures and seeing more of this amazing city. The girls and I did a little shopping while the boys and Ruby took in several more games of ping pong at the local park.

This evening our guide organized a river cruise. It was beautiful! Most of the group went and we had a wonderful time. The boat was very nice and we could go to the upper deck to see the sites. It amazes me how many high-rise apartments there are in this city. We spent a few hours on the boat and we were able to socialize with the other families some more.

Tomorrow we pack up and take a 3-4 hour van ride to Hong Kong for the night. More adventure awaits.......

National Adoption Month

November is National Adoption Month. It is a special time to reflect on the beauty of adoption. Our family has been blessed to be able to adopt Ruby and we are so grateful for everyone's love and prayers.  Pictures of Ruby from every November of her life. Ruby continues to grow her personality and emotionally. She attends school two days a week for 2 1/2 hours each day and absolutely loves it. Her teachers are amazing and she has really made some nice friends with classmates. She has begun talking (finally, says the speech therapist mom!). She is repeating a lot of words and beginning to say single words for communication. She is laughing more and has even learned a fake laugh when others are laughing.  She continues to bring such joy to our family. Our Little Roo is Now Two

HAPPY BIRTHDAY RUBY!!!!! Yesterday we celebrated Ruby's 2nd birthday. It was such a fun celebration and I am convinced she knew the day was about her. She had a lot of fun playing with her cousins, opening presents and eating 'Ruby-O's' that her brother gave her for a gift. She was very good about sharing them as well and shoving them by the handful in our mouths. And thanks to the girls she was able to sport 4 different outfits during a 3 hour party!! Every time they brought her back to the living room she was in a different outfit! Girls!!! Ruby enjoyed opening the gifts and was surprisingly good at it. I cannot imagine they got too many presents in the orphanage. I would like to say she enjoyed her big piece of cake with lots of frosting, but I decided I didn't want to be up all night with her and an upset tummy so she just had two scoops of coconut whipped cream (dairy and soy free).
